Tony C/O #5 - Professor James - Listening - Group 3
Date & Time: Monday 2/3, 2:00-2:50pm
Topic/Skill: Listening
Teacher Presentation: Professor James played two videos relating to music and its effect on the brain. She would pause periodically to discuss themes and have students predict what would come next.
Classroom Management: Professor James allotted 10 minutes to review for a quiz, 10 minutes for the quiz, then 30 minutes to show the class two videos and ask questions about them.
Materials: Projector, laptops
Student Participation: Professor James asked students to make predictions about the video.
Feedback Provided: She would discuss the student's predictions and whether they were likely to happen.
Lessons on teaching I learned: A lot of learning can occur just from absorption of material. For a listening class, students must be challenged on the amount of info they can absorb and understand at a time- something necessary especially in a college setting.
