Tony C/O #2 - Dr. Rios - Grammar - Group 3
Date & Time: Monday 2/3, 10:00 - 10:50am
Topic/Skill: Grammar
Teacher Presentation: Dr. Rios introduced a new chapter on Adjective Clauses. He used the check-up questions from the textbook and had the students practice by describing example photos. He corrected and assisted them with forming their thoughts during their answers.
Classroom Management: The instructor dedicated 5-10 minutes at the start of class to review for the day's quiz, then 10 minutes to take the quiz. The remainder of class was spend on a lecture with heavy student engagement.
Materials: Projector, laptops
Student Participation:
Feedback Provided: Dr. Rios corrected students at the time of making a mistake. The students were advanced enough that mistakes were not abundant and corrections wouldn't overwhelm them.
Lessons on teaching I learned: Dr. Rios's approach with a larger class was focused on keeping the students engaged. He fielded student examples heavily throughout the class period and would correct errors as they came up. It seemed very effective as the students were engaged heavily and seemed to enjoy his classes.
