The topic of today's activity was "Common Classroom Phrases." I had planned to watch a clip from Stranger Things, however, the audio would not work on his end. I tried sending him the video in the chat and he said he still could not hear it. Unfortunately a lot of this lesson was based off this video. I showed some of the clip with no sound, and did my best to explain what happened in the video. He seemed to understand most of it.
The video was Eleven in Stranger Things giving a presentation in her classroom. We went over new vocabulary that was in the video, as well as phrases used by the students and teachers. I gave him another slide of examples classroom phrases that weren't in this video such as "I have a question" and "I do not understand." We went over those for a while and di not have time for a role play activity i had planned.
This was the activity
Write a dialogue between a teacher and a student.
After, we will read your dialogue out loud as a role-playing activity.
For example:
Teacher: Good morning, everyone! Please open your books to page 10.
Student: Excuse me, teacher. I don’t understand.
Teacher: No problem! Look at the picture on page 10. What do you see?
Student: Umm… a boy and a dog?
Teacher: Yes! Very good. Now, listen and repeat: “The boy has a dog.”
Student: The boy has a dog.
