Max TS#7 - Karim
2/17/25
Yesterday Karim and I worked on reading comprehension. The session prior, I had given him a practice test that was roughly upper-intermediate level. It contained a reading passage and 10-12 reading comprehension questions, ranging from True or False, Synonym vs. Antonym, Placing events from the text in chronological order and so on. He completed this before we met, so I graded it first thing and he only got 1 wrong. He also said that he took a TOEFL practice test and that reading was his weakest subject, so we began working on more TOEFL practice questions. At first we struggled to find an appropriate difficulty. He is advanced, but the first text was a little too difficult. We were able to find questions that suited his skill level and finished out the session practicing these. To wrap up, we did some practice on minimal pairs centering around 'P' and 'B' as he still struggles to properly pronounce these correctly sometimes.
