Ariana TS 5/6: Nejoud
Date & Time: February 9 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM
Nejoud and I met for two hours at Ground Ops Cafe in Midtown. I created a lesson plan on Google Docs so we could both view and edit the document together as she was working on it. For the first part of the lesson, we reviewed vocabulary. I incorporated some vocabulary from the previous tutoring session as well as some new words. After going over the definitions, she completed a fill in the blank activity I created and used five of the words to create a short story. She grasps vocabulary very quickly, and there are a few grammar errors but she self corrects rather quickly in writing.
We took a short break before moving on to the next part of the lesson. I found a YouTube video by CBS Sunday Morning News about Japanese-Americans making mochi. I had some comprehension questions ready that were related to the video. We discussed mochi and where it can be found in the US.
