Max TS #2 -- Abdulkarim (1/16/25)
Tutoring Session #2 with Abdulkarim
1/16/25 at Strozier Library
In yesterday's tutoring session, Karim and I continued to work on the past tense. As we discussed in his first session, he wanted to work on his past tenses, so yesterday we began with the past perfect tense. I put together a lesson plan to work on the past perfect, which began with examples of its' use in movies and TV shows to give him a practical example of how it is used in English conversation. Then I went through the grammar rules and how this tense is conjugated. Next we went through some questions where he had to choose the correct form, as well as convert a simple past tense sentence into the past perfect. To finish, we read an article from the Tallahassee Democrat because he is interested in news and politics as well as learning about his host community and American culture. I think this all went really well. Throughout the lesson I learned a little bit about pronunciation mistakes with Arabic speakers with the letter 'p', because they do not have a sound like this in Arabic. Other than correcting some small grammatical errors and help with definitions, Karim did really well.
